Grand Prix  Grand Prix Ski-Doo de Valcourt 2008

Two words to describe the 26th edition of The Grand Prix Ski-Doo of Valcourt : Incomparable success!

The 26th edition of the Grand Prix Ski-Doo of Valcourt can be summed up in two words, incomparable success. A record crowd, good weather, breathtaking races, means nothing better! Official results will be announced in the coming days. The event, from Friday to Sunday, has become popular because of its exciting activities.

The Freestyle demos were breathtaking. Back flips and the most extreme figures were done by riders, Dane Ferguson and Jimmy Blaze from Alaska, and Jeff Mullin from Kipawa - Northern Quebec. This year, the audience had access to the Red Bull area and was able to experience the thrills.

For Snocross racing, Ross Martin from Wisconsin, who won second place in 2007, deployed all his efforts to climb to the top of the podium this year. Levi LaVallee, from Minnesota, won second place, followed by Robbie Malinoski from Minnesota, a new rider on the Ski-Doo team.

In oval racing, an important battle took place between Dustin Wahl, Nick Dolezal and Brian Bewcyck respectively taking a place on the podium. The oval track, larger than ever on the curves, was safer, and without incident, to the delight of both riders and Grand Prix team! After the national anthems were played, the start was announced by Jacques Villeneuve from his residence. He would have liked to have been present in Valcourt, so that's why he called to give the starting signal to his friends before the final race.

Finally, the veteran Dominic Beaulac, who races motorcycles on ice, has resumed his place as champion. Maxime Sylvestre took 2nd place, followed by Shawn Ford. Unfortunately, Andrew Ranger had an accident during Sunday's qualifications. He had a minor injury to one of his feet and he did not participate in the finals.

Congratulation to the team of Desjardins Festivities who animate the site as ever with a lot of new activities. The families have had only good feedback! The Museum J. Armand Bombardier introduced its new exhibit and new Ski-Doo models. Craftsmen were back for a second experience and people were happy to discover new product from Quebec. Finally, the Show CoopTel was sold out one month before the event and people were impatient to see the show. The artists, Boom Desjardins, Porn Flakes and their guests, did a really good show with a dynamic crowd.
